Domino Players - Horace PippinThis painting reminded me quite a bit of Gwendolyn Brooks' "We Real Cool". The style it is painted in brings to mind sadness or loneliness. It's almost as if the family around the table has nothing better to do than play a game all night because they don't have many other options- the same feeling portrayed in "We Real Cool".

Spearhead- Crime to be broke in americaThis song reminded me of how many of Brooks' poems are based around the subject of the struggles of lower-class African-Americans. One could picture that the pool players from "We Real Cool" (Brooks' most famous poem) were there because they had no other type of entertainment because of their class.

Lorde- RoyalsThis song kind of made me think of "A Sunset Of The City". Lorde's song has to do with how she'll never be part of the seemingly perfect upper class, which made me think of the imperfect life of the narrator in Brooks' poem.
